A family begins with care.

At Summit Women’s Health, we know that choosing a doctor for your lifelong health requires trust.

Brandon, Megan, Sam, and VaLeah build that trust by caring for your family not just for 9 months, but for years and generations.

Our health providers are here to stay. Our patients include baby girls we delivered at birth and now treat as young women, mothers, and grandmothers.

Menopausal & Hormonal Care

Menopause Symptom Treatment

The majority of menopause symptoms are caused by a decrease in estrogen, so your doctor may bring up the option of supplements (see: Estrogen Supplements). There are also non-medical treatments, like strengthening the pelvic floor to decrease involuntary urination (see: Bladder Control).

Menopause has many symptoms, and each person experiences menopause differently. Your doctor at Summit Women’s Health will take time to understand your particular symptoms and medical history. Together, we will create a plan for moving through this time as comfortably as possible.

To book an appointment with Summit Women’s Health, call us at 681 282 5591 or request an appointment.

Hormone Therapy

As we age, certain hormones can naturally dip. This leads to health issues such as high blood pressure, weak bones, difficulty losing weight, or diminished sex drive. Bioidentical hormone therapy treats these issues by helping your body rebalance your hormones, which leads to maintaining healthy organ function and overall wellness.

To book an appointment with Summit Women’s Health, call us at 681 282 5591 or request an appointment.

Bladder Control

Urinary incontinence, also known as a loss of bladder control, can happen to anyone and becomes very common with age. About twice as many women experience urinary incontinence as do men, and over half of menopausal women will experience some loss of bladder control. Incontinence may feel like moderate leaking, involuntary wetting while sneezing or laughing, or frequent wetting. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, we are here to help.

Estrogen Deficiency Treatment

Many, many women experience a drop in estrogen at some point in their lives, especially during or after menopause. Estrogen deficiency can cause some or all of these uncomfortable symptoms: trouble concentrating, irritability, vaginal dryness and/or decreased sex drive, weak bones, hot flashes and night sweats, weight gain (particularly in the belly area), and fatigue. If these symptoms sound familiar, you and your doctor at Summit Women’s Health may want to explore how estrogen supplements could be helpful for you.

Gynecology

Annual Checkups

Women should start seeing a gynecologist once a year starting around when they get their first period. Annual checkups are extremely important for making sure your reproductive system is healthy and catching breast cancer or gynecologic cancer as early as possible.

Pap Smears

Pap smears test for cervical cancer. They are a short part of your annual checkup that should be done every 3-5 years depending on your age and family history. Your doctor will take a small sample of cells from your cervix and send them to be tested. Pap smears are painless and an important part of maintaining your health.

STD Testing

It can be frightening to think about having a sexually transmitted infection (STI, also known as STD), but they’re incredibly common. The testing process is smooth, easy, and usually takes only a few minutes.

We highly recommend including STI testing in your annual checkup. But if you are experiencing any symptoms like itching, pain, or discomfort in the vaginal area, or know that a sexual partner has been infected, you can come in for a separate appointment at any time. STIs don’t get better without treatment, so don’t wait to find out if you’re infected.

Birth Control & IUDs

In addition to being effective for avoiding pregnancy, birth control can improve women’s health in other ways. Summit Women’s Health offers all forms of birth control, including pills, rings, and IUDs - intrauterine devices - that are inserted through a quick procedure and last for 5 to 10 years. Your provider at Summit Women’s Health will be happy to discuss your needs and health history to help you choose a birth control option that’s right for you.

Abnormal Uterine Bleeding

Abnormal uterine bleeding is actually very normal - basically all women will experience a period that seems different from usual at some point. When we call it “abnormal bleeding,” we mean that the bleeding is occurring at irregular intervals or in excessive amounts. Some types may indicate that there is another issue, like PCOS or endometriosis, worth looking into. Other times, particularly if the person experiencing the bleeding is pregnant, postmenopausal, or under the age of 9, it is an immediate reason to come in for an appointment.

To book an appointment with Summit Women’s Health, call us at 681 282 5591 or request an appointment.

PCOS

When a woman’s ovaries produce a larger amount of testosterone than average, they are experiencing PCOS, or polycystic ovary syndrome. PCOS affects around 10% of all reproductive-aged women, causing symptoms like missed or light periods, significant acne, weight gain (particularly around the belly), excess body hair, skin tags or patches of dark skin, and hair thinning. If you believe you’re experiencing PCOS symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor at Summit Women’s Health. They will run tests, conduct an exam, and guide you through the test results to ensure you understand everything happening with your body, whether you’re experiencing PCOS or not.

Endometriosis

Throughout a woman’s life, she may sometimes experience particularly painful or heavy periods. However, when severe abdominal pain or excessive bleeding become common to most or all of your periods, you may be experiencing endometriosis. At Summit Women’s Health, we offer a wide range of treatments for endometriosis, from hormonal medication to IUDs to a minimally-invasive surgery called endometrial ablation. Your doctor will discuss all your options with you to help you decide on a plan for treatment.

Fibroids

Fibroids are tumors that commonly develop in the uterus. About 70 to 80% of all women will develop fibroids at some point in their lives, and they are almost always noncancerous. In those cases, it may be that the fibroid only needs to be monitored at annual checkups.

In other cases, it may be best for your health to remove it. At Summit Women’s Health, we offer the Acessa Procedure: a new, minimally-invasive procedure that can shrink or eliminate fibroid tumors. The Acessa Procedure is a quick, same-day surgery with a fast recovery.

To book an appointment with Summit Women’s Health, call us at 681 282 5591 or request an appointment.

Hysterectomy

A hysterectomy is a surgery to remove the uterus. This procedure usually involves cutting open the abdomen, staying in the hospital for around 3 days, and recovering for up to 2 months.

vNOTES surgery gives women another option for hysterectomies. It is minimally invasive: instead of relying on abdominal incisions, it uses a specialized instrument that is inserted through the vagina.

Summit Women’s Health is committed to giving patients more and better care options, which is why we are the only OB/GYN currently offering this service locally. Patients say that the vNOTES method results in shorter hospital stays, less pain medication needed, less postoperative pain, and faster recovery times.
